Dollar falls vs rupee

The dollar witnessed losses against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Monday. It opened the day’s trading at Rs 98.23 for buying, depreciated by eight paisas and closed at Rs 98.15 for buying and Rs 98.20 for selling.

Similarly, the European currency lost strength versus the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 128.12 for buying, lost 60 paisas and closed at Rs 127.52 for buying and Rs 127.72 for selling. The pound sterling moved down against the local currency as it began the day’s trading at Rs 147.71 for buying, down by 25 paisas and closed at Rs 147.46 for buying and Rs 147.66 for selling.

Open market: The dollar edged higher against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 99 for buying, rose five paisas and closed at Rs 99.05 for buying and Rs 99.30 for selling.

The euro remained steady against the local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 132.80 for buying, without daily variation closed at the same rate for buying and Rs 133.20 for selling. Likewise, the British pound closed flat versus the rupee as it opened the day’s trading at Rs 153.40 for buying, recorded no daily variation and closed at the same rate for buying and Rs 154.40 for selling.
