550 houses found using Sui gas illegally in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The anti-theft squad led by DCO Najam Ahmed Shah detected illegal gas supply to 550 houses and arrested three gas thieves. The team raided different places at Mohallah Islampura near Airport, Hamza Town and Tariq Colony on Jhang Road, and found the houses using gas illegally.


The team arrested Rashid, Bashir and Yasin, while their ringleader Zulfiqar alias Bhutto managed to flee. Meanwhile, the Razabad police registered cases against Malik Iftikhar, Rana Tanvir and Ghulam Rasool on the charge of stealing gas. The accused had laid underground plastic pipes in these areas and were supplying gas to the residents illegally. The accused also received charges from the illegal users.

Talking to the media, the DCO said that the anti-theft squad had so far conducted seven raids in various localities and caught several gangs supplying gas to hundreds of houses through such illegal methods.

He said that an independent inquiry would be started in the gas theft cases to trace the remaining pilferers. He added that stern action would be taken against Sui gas officials if they found guilty of helping the gas thieves. He appealed to the people to identify the gas and electricity thieves so that they should be traced and punished.
