Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 132,399 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,459 tonnes of import cargo and 34,940 tonnes of export cargo including 3,278 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 97,459 tonnes comprised 16,182 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,365 tonnes of general cargo; 21,349 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,849 tonnes of DAP; 19,500 tonnes of coal and 50,563 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,940 tonnes comprised 21,704 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,199 tonnes of general cargo; 1,037 tonnes of cement and 11,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,278 containers comprising 1,396 containers import and 1,882 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The brakeup of imported containers shows 228 of 20's and 569 of 40's loaded while 6 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 378 of 20's and 469 of 40's loaded containers while 54 of 20's and 256 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are seven ships namely Hanjin Montevideo, Hanjin Ottawa, OEL Trust, Bon Chem, Chang An-1, Banglar Kakoli and Maha-B with three container ships, two oil tankers and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There are six vessels viz OOCL Texas, OEL Trust, Imara, MT Karachi, Nord Guardian and Baltic-K with three container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. There are three ships namely MT Quetta, Nord Guardian and SFL Humber with two oil tankers and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely OOCL Texas, Baltic-K and POS Almandin with one container ship, one general cargo ship and one DAP carrier respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.

There is one vessel viz Hyundai Highness with one container ship due to arrive on Tuesday, while four vessels viz APL Brisbane, ACX Diamond, Ital Moderna and Songa Peral with three container ships and one chemical carrier are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 39,869 tonnes comprising 33,569 tonnes of import cargo and 6,300 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,180 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 33,569 tonnes includes 5,951 tonnes of urea; 9,138 tonnes of chemical and 18,480 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 6,300 tonnes of containerised cargo. There is one ship namely MV Argent Daisy with chemical sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning. A total number of four vessels viz CV Nysted Maersk, MV Vina Ship Sea, MV Spring Sunshine and MV Argent Daisy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, chemical and urea respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as six ships namely Wan Hai-602, MSC Levina, CMA CGM Molier, Norgas Innovation, Stolt Viking and Al-Salam-II with containers, chemical and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There is one vessel took berth at Qasim International Container Terminal on Monday. There are four ships namely CV CMA CGM Molier, CV UASC Sitrah, MV Norgas Innovation and MT Al-Salam-II with containers, chemical and diesel oil due to arrive on Tuesday.
