Pakistan, China committed to establish trade corridor: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday said Pakistan and China were committed to establish a trade corridor for enhancing their trade ties.

He hoped that agreements would be signed by the two countries on the basis of exiting memorandums of understanding for developing infrastructure, energy and education sectors.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said Pakistan wanted Chinese cooperation in developing infrastructure, including construction of motorway from Khunjrab to Gawadar and Karachi and laying rail track to run bullet train between Karachi and Kashghar.

Pervaiz Rashid said that China wanted to utilize Pakistani route for access to Middle East, South Asia, Central Asia and Europe to reduce its cost in terms ofproduction and transportation.

He said China also intended to produce its products in Pakistani industrial zones and then to market them in other markets, including India.

He said despite the barrier of language, both the countries wanted to enhance their cooperation in the fields of education and culture. Pakistan has already established Chinese learning centers in various cities to promote the Chinese language, he added.
