Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Hashim Raza Zaidi on Thursday issued directives for utilising all resources to complete the construction of four Shahrah-e-Pakistan flyovers by June 30.

The Teen Hatti, Dak Khana (SM Taufiq Road), Aisha Manzil and Water Pump flyovers will make up the Shahrah-e-Pakistan signal-free corridor.

The administrator visited the construction sites of the Teen Hatti and Dak Khana flyovers, accompanied by KMC Technical Services Director General Altaf G Memon, project directors, engineers concerned and other officers.

Zaidi said measures for completing the construction of the Teen Hatti and Dak Khana flyovers have been taken.

After their construction, the SFC-V will not only improve traffic flow, but also resolve the issue of traffic gridlocks, he added.

He directed the KMC officials to use high-quality material in the construction so that the flyovers are built well and could last long.

He told the officials that the KMC started development projects in the public interest, so they should be completed in the stipulated time frame, adding that negligence would not be tolerated. The administrator said Shahrah-e-Pakistan was an important and busy corridor that connected the inside roads, due to which traffic pressure existed near the four intersections; therefore, it was necessary to resolve the issue and improve traffic flow.

After the construction of the SFC-V, traffic from Martin Road, Liaquatabad, Lasbela, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, Azizabad, Ancholi and Karimabad, and to the Super Highway will be facilitated.

Zaidi also directed planting more trees along Shahrah-e-Pakistan, SM Taufiq Road and Jahangir Road to make the corridor attractive.
