KWSB MD Misbahuddin Farid said the institutions would be able to perform far better once the settlement of outstanding dues among the utility service providers is carried out.
He said different departments and institutions, including the KWSB, owed billions of rupees in lieu of outstanding dues on different governmental organisations and other consumers, due to which various utility service providers were facing a financial crisis.
To bring them out of the financial crisis, the government should take action and establish a committee to formulate a strategy for early recovery of dues, he added.
He said the government could also set up a special cell in the Sindh Police or the Anti-Corruption units similar to the special cell for Wapda in the NAB.
Farid said the KWSB was facing a financial crisis because of non-payment of hefty outstanding dues.
The water board is also facing problems in upgrading its existing system as well as maintaining it, he added.
He said the government should come up with a recovery plan, adding that immediate action should be taken in this regard.
