Electricity shortfall exceeds 4600 MW


ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Citizens of country are facing worst ever electricity load shedding this summer with power shortfall exceeding 4,600 MW and the duration of load shedding rising to 18 hours a day in most areas of the country.


According to latest statistics, the total power supply is 11,600 MW. The gap between generation and demand has resulted into a shortfall of 4600MW due to which load shedding is being carried out on alternate hours. The demand of the electricity is 16000 MW.


The citizens of rural areas of the country are facing more than 15 hours of load shedding while in urban areas, load shedding is being carried out for 10 hours. In Islamabad load shedding of one hour is being done after every hour. The residents of the federal capital are facing severe problems while performing their daily routine matters.


According to officials, there’s no chance of increase in electricity production. However the demand is likely to drop due to the change in weather.


Continuous power outage has affected domestic life to a great extent and caused water shortage in many areas of the country. Meanwhile, the traders and business outlets have also been hit hard by the load shedding.
