FBR seizes big haul of smuggled cigarettes

MULTAN : A special team of Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation of Inland Revenue, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has raided wholesalers and retailers and seized million of rupees worth smuggled Korean brand PINE cigarette. According to sources in FBR, on the instructions of Director General, Intelligence & Investigation, special teams conducted the operation in different parts of the city confiscated the smuggled cigaretts.



The PINE brand Korean cigarettes are smuggled into Pakistan through Iran and Afghanistan.



It is to be mentioned here that in Pakistan, the sale of smuggled cigarettes is constantly on the rise and realizing the severity of the issue, the FBR has recently started a crackdown against the elements involved in the illegal business which is incurring billions of rupees loss to the national exchequer in terms of taxes and other duties.
