Food security top priority: Bosan

Islamabad Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (MinNFS&R), Sikandar Bosan here on Saturday said that self-sufficiency in food and development of agriculture sector was the top priority of the government.

 

 

After assuming the charge of office of MinNFS&R, the minister said that the government would provide all kinds of assistance to the farmers to achieve the goal of national food security.

 

The minister said the MinNFS&R would be reorganized and reactivated to ensure sustainable agri-sector development in the country.

 

“I am here to represent the farming community of the country and I will try to convey the agriculture research results at the door steps of the farmers to promote and develop the sector and further enhance the agri-production in the country”, he added.

 

The minister said that steps would be taken for the development and welfare of the farmers adding that a proper mechanism would be evolved to enhance per acre crop output by introducing new varieties of seed and modern methods of cultivation.

 

Earlier, the minister visited the ministry of National Food Security and Research where Federal Secretary MinNFA&R, Taimoor Azmat, Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council, Dr. Iftikahar Ahmad and other senior officers of the ministry received the minister and briefed him about the working of the ministry.
