KARACHI : There is acute shortage of water in industrial zones of the city creating serious problems to continue industrial production which is causing delay in meeting export orders especially in textile and leather processing industries.

The industrial units located in Korangi, Landhi, F.B.Area, SITE and SITE Super Highway are badly affected by water shortage.
This was stated by Gulzar Firoz, Vice President, FPCCI, in a statement here on Monday.

He said the only solution and immediate step is to set up Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in all industrial areas.

He informed that five plants have already been approved for Korangi industrial area and the feasibility has been completed. Its formal approval from the Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister was awaited and hopefully this would be done very soon. Meanwhile, he urged, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to prepare PC-1 for other industrial areas as well.
