ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Thursday said the country was facing problems in revenue generation and expressed the government’s firm determination to deal with tax evaders with an iron hand to collect the maximum revenue.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Dar said the new energy policy envisaged low cost fuel-based projects so that affordable and cheaper energy could be provided to consumers. The energy policy would be announced by the premier, he added.

To a question‚ Dar reiterated the government’s determination to deal with tax evaders in order to collect the maximum revenue. The minister said the agriculture sector contributed 23 percent of the total GDP‚ but the overall tax revenues collection from this sector was just Rs1 billion, which was very low.
