Govt to take all stakeholders on energy policy: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif on Tuesday said that government wanted to take all stakeholders on board on national energy policy as it was committed to stop pilferage of electricity and gas.

Provinces were given time to hold internal consultation regarding the policy, on their demands, he added, saying the meeting of counsel of common interest would be held again in next week. Talking to a private TV channel, Asif said that features of energy policy had been declared to stop electricity pilferage and reducing loadshedding.

He said that media should also play its positive role on the issues.

To a query, the minister said that judiciary and government were on same objectives and wanted transparency in the system.

Business community of Lahore, Karachi and KPK were also invited in meeting to take them in confidence, he said, saying that collective efforts should be made to overcome power crisis.
