Karachi ports handle 106,982 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 106,982 tons during the last 24 hours that included 66,803 tons of imports and 40,179 tons of exports, the two ports reported on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (11,902 tons), bulk cargo (1,287 tons), coal (10,115 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (575 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (21,165 tons), bulk cargo (85 tons), cement (2,127 tons), rice (77 tons), flour (two tons), sugar (69 tons) and oil / liquid cargo (3,340 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including diesel (21,819 tons), and containerised cargo (21,105 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (13,314 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 25 percent at the port on Wednesday, the Port Qasim Authority reported. It said that it moored two ships during the last 24 hours. They were carrying containers.

With this, a total of three ships loaded and offloaded containers and diesel at different berths at the port in the last 24 hours.

Besides, three ships carrying containers, diesel and chemicals, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said. The Karachi Port Trust said that it berthed three ships in the last 24 hours.
