Karachi ports handle 131,467 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 131,467 tons during the last 24 hours that included 72,949 tons of imports and 58,518 tons of exports, the two ports reported on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (50 tons), bulk cargo (84 tons), DAP (3,151 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (2,037 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (3,250 tons), bulk cargo (238 tons), cement (2,755 tons), loose bulk cement (3,676 tons), talcum powder (5,004 tons) and oil / liquid cargo (17,318 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including palm oil (17,922 tons), wheat (8,112 tons) chemicals (4,752 tons) and containerised cargo (36,841 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (26,277 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 50 percent at the port on Tuesday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.

It said that it moored five ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, chemicals, wheat, and palm oil. With this, a total of seven ships loaded and offloaded containers, chemicals, wheat and palm oil. Besides, another three ships, carrying cement, diesel and containers, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said.
