Karachi ports handle 192,918 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 192,918 tons during the last 24 hours that included 111,485 tons of imports and 81,433 tons of exports, the two ports reported on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (20,966 tons), bulk cargo (12,701 tons), DAP (8,007 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (36,547 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (38,406 tons), bulk cargo (155 tons), cement (7,834 tons), and loose bulk cement (1,184 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including steel coil (7,728 tons), and containerised cargo (25,536 tons). It handled exports, including cement (14,113 tons), and containerised cargo (19,741 tons). Berth occupancy was measured at 29 percent at the port on Monday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.

It said that it moored two ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers and steel coil. With this, a total of four ships loaded and offloaded containers, cement, and steel coil. Besides, another three ships, carrying containers, liquefied petroleum gas and diesel, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said.

The Karachi Port Trust said that it berthed two ships in the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, while another five ships, carrying ethanol, containers and general cargo, are expected to arrive at the port in the next 24 hours.
