Karachi ports handle 211,772 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 211,772 tons during the last 24 hours that included 144,871 tons of imports and 66,901 tons of export, the two ports reported on Thursday.

Accordingly, the Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (38,965 tons), bulk cargo (7,006 tons), DAP (4,273 tons), rock phos (7,386 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (10,272 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (22,335 tons), bulk cargo (1,194 tons), cement (885 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (13,130 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including furnace oil (35,742 tons), palm oil (6,330 tons), coal (2,776 tons), fertiliser (8,155 tons), chemicals (5,004 tons), and containerised cargo (18,962 tons). It handled exports, including onion (10 tons) sand (613 tons), cement (9,259 tons), and containerised cargo (19,475 tons). Berth occupancy was measured at 57 percent at the port on Wednesday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.

It said that it moored two ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, and chemicals. With this, a total of eight ships loaded and offloaded containers, cement, sand, coil, palm oil, fertiliser, chemicals, and furnace oil.

Besides, another four ships, carrying containers, chemicals and fertiliser, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said.
