Karachi ports handle 284,287 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 284,287 tons during the last 24 hours that included 221,994 tons of imports and 62,293 tons of exports, the ports reported on Monday.

The Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (66,943 tons), bulk cargo (2,079 tons), DAP (7,373 tons), rock phos (10,107 tons), coal (25,000 tons) and oil / liquid cargo (78,238 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (50,726 tons), bulk cargo (524 tons), cement (1,801 tons), and oil/liquid cargo (7,541 tons). Port Qasim handled imports, including chemicals (15,921 tons), urea (8,962 tons), and containerised cargo (7,371 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (1,701 tons). Berth occupancy was measured at 45 percent at the port on Monday, the Port Qasim Authority reported. It also moored three ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers and chemicals. With this, a total of five ships loaded and offloaded chemicals, containers and urea.

Another three ships, carrying containers, chemicals and diesel, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said.

Karachi Port Trust said that it berthed seven ships, which were carrying bulk cargo, tankers, containers, and general cargo, while, another five ships, carrying containers, and cement, are expected to arrive at the port in the next 24 hours.
