Karachi ports handle 306,982 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 306,982 tons during the last 24 hours that included 224,354 tons of imports and 82,628 tons of exports, the two ports reported on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (38,104 tons), bulk cargo (1,206 tons), coal (7,000 tons) and oil / liquid cargo (86,124 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (23,546 tons), loose bulk cement (2,816 tons) and oil / liquid cargo (20,680 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including edible oil (10,200 tons), furnace oil (44,367 tons), iron ore (7,890 tons) and containerised cargo (29,463 tons). It handled exports, including cement (8,475 tons) and containerised cargo (27,111 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 85 percent at the port on Wednesday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.

It said that it moored three ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers and edible oil. With this, a total of nine ships loaded and offloaded containers, cement, iron ore, furnace oil and edible oil.

Besides, another three ships, carrying containers, furnace oil and iron ore, are parked at the outer anchorage of the port, it said.
