Karachi ports handle 308,703 tons of cargo

The Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 308,703 tons during the last 24 hours that included 239,503 tons of imports and 69,200 tons of exports, the two ports reported on Monday.

The Karachi Port handled imports, including containerised cargo (58,488 tons), bulk cargo (5,258 tons), DAP (9,903 tons), rock phos (2,160 tons), and oil / liquid cargo (79,857 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (63,213 tons), bulk cargo (438 tons), and cement (4,037 tons).

Port Qasim handled imports, including edible oil (7,000 tons), furnace oil (55, 312 tons), chemicals (9,100 tons), coal (9,854 tons) and containerised cargo (3,381 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (1,512 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 65 percent at the port on Monday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.

It said that it moored four ships during the last 24 hours. They were carrying containers, cement, sand and steel coil. With this, a total of seven ships loaded and offloaded containers, cement, sand, steel coil, chemicals, coal, furnace oil and edible oil.

Besides, another two ships, carrying containers, arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it said. The Karachi Port Trust said that it berthed five ships in the last 24 hours.
