KCCI urges Belarus for joint ventures in automobiles

KARACHI: Haroon Agar, president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged the ambassador of Belarus to explore the possibilities of joint ventures in automobiles, services and industrial products, according to a statement. Exchanging views with Victor Rybak, ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan, Agar said that the Belarus economy is dominated by services and industrial products.

Belarusian tractors, trucks, motorcycles, earthmovers, fertilisers, machinery and mineral products, chemicals, metals, textiles, metal-cutting machine tools and synthetic fibres can be exported to Pakistan due to its demand, he said.

Belarus Export to Pakistan in 2011were $2.54 million, while it imports goods worth $34.58 million, said Agar. The KCCI president offered cooperation with the Embassy of Belarus to organise a single country Belarusian exhibition in Pakistan.

He also invited Belarusian companies to participate in the KCCI’s My-Karachi exhibition to be organised in July 2013, according to the statement. Agar said that the KCCI can sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Minsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry to facilitate the business community.
