Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has condemned an incident of violent attack on it's DHA Badar Commercial Complaint Office by over a dozen drunkard men early Friday morning who claimed to belong from an influential political party.

The attackers who had come in three cars forcibly broke into the office beyond the public complaint area, abused, manhandled and injured KESC employees and security guard on duty; destroyed furniture, fixture and equipment, and damaged of duty vehicles parked outside the office.

They indicated some fault at the influential individual's house somewhere in Bukhari area, for which no complaint had been lodged, and wanted the Complaints staff to accompany them immediately. The Complaints Supervisor tried to calm them down and requested for the correct address so that complaint vehicles, all of them already in the field, could be diverted.

The individuals were too drunk to indicate the correct address and instead resorted to unbridled violence coercing the staff to attend to their complaint immediately. Police was called but the attackers escaped the scene before three police vans arrived. KESC said that such untoward incidents were part of the difficulties that the power utility had been facing while providing best possible services to the consumers.

The power utility asked the citizens to demonstrate restraint and patience while seeking remedy to any fault related outages and also must lodge their complaints, preferably getting them registered with 118, before demanding action. KESC has demanded that the law enforcing agencies should take strict and immediate action against this incident and provide security to KESC's staff and assets.-PR
