The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is likely to initiate door to door survey of commerce and industrial establishment to verify availability of TV sets in the premises.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has directed Chief Executive Officer of KESC that PTV license fee is chartable only to those consumers who have installed TV set in the premises.

In a letter to the Chief Executive Officer, Nepra mentioned that during recent hearing in Karachi, the consumers of KESC protected before the authority regarding charging of PTV license fee from all consumers including industrial consumers without verifying that of availability of TV set at the premises.

The letter further directed KESC to instruct the field formations to visit all commercial and industrial consumers premises for verification and incase there is no evidence of TV set than the charges with respect of PTV license fee charged in electricity bills be corrected. The authority further directed KESC to submit report in this regard within 30 days from the date of receipt of the letter.
