KP govt forms working group to cut down expenditure

PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has constituted a committee or working group to implement wide ranging austerity measures with an aim to cut down current expenditure and to bring it in line with revenues.

The committee or working group will comprise Senior Minister for Finance Sirauul Haq as chairman and Minister for C&W Yousaf Ayub Khan, MPAs Ms Aneesa Zaib Tahirkheli, Sardar Muhammad Idrees, ex-CSP Officer Farooq Haroon, finance additional chief secretary, P&D additional chief secretary, administration secretary, establishment secretary, law secretary, education, health and home additional secretaries, former finance secretary Abdus Samad Khan and former home and health secretary Dr Ihsanul Haq as members of the committee.

Terms of reference of committee or working group shall be identification of specific areas of government expenditure where austerity measures can be implemented and consider and identify non productive group in public sector organisations to be declared as dying cadre, out sourcing of janitorial watch and ward and other services as an economy measure, merger/rationalisation of departments, carrying out VFM reviews of ADP and other O&M activities of the government, bringing frugality in energy consumption and its related cases. The TORs also include modalities for linking pay rise to performance, policy of choice attrition of non-core employees on their retirement and better use of government assets such as vehicles and accommodation, says a notification issued by finance department government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. app
