KSE sheds 9.20 points in range-bound activity

KARACHI - Range bound activity was seen at KSE. However, cement stocks remained in the limelight on news that local cement prices will remain firm in the next few weeks. MLCF closed at its upper cap with 20m shares exchanged hands and DGKC closed at Rs 53.2 with 15m shares traded.

Heavy weight OGDC also gained 3 rupees at close, dealers observed here on Wednesday.

At local equity market benchmark KSE-100 share index down by 9.20 points or 0.06 percent to end the day at 16,120.52 points as compared to 16,129.72 points of the previous day.KSE-Allshare index gained 11.46 points or 0.10 percent to finish the day at 11,323.16 points, KSE-30 share index shed by 7.74 points or 0.06 percent to close the day at 13,173.46 points while KMI-30 share index increased by 28.88 points or 0.10 percent to conclude the session at 28,145.14 points.

Bourse traded 143.541 million shares after opening at 156.978 million shares and the value of traded share was rose to Rs 4.101 billion from Rs 3.944 billion. Market capitalisation settled at Rs 4.027 trillion as compared to Rs 4.023 trillion of a day earlier.

During the session, 318 companies participated in the trading where gainers held a lead over the losers 152 to 136 while the value of 30 stocks remained intact. Island TextileXD and Indus DyeingXD were the top price gainer of the day up by Rs 26.92 to Rs 565.49 and Rs 20 to Rs 559 while the biggest losers of the day topped by Bata (Pak) XD and Clover PakistanXD down by Rs 65.45 to Rs 1320 and Rs 2.75 to Rs 75.70.

Maple Leaf Cement was the volume leader of the day with 20.196 million shares as it closed at Rs 11.34 after opening at Rs 10.34. Dera Ghazi Khan Cement was on the second position with 15.069 million shares. It was followed by JS Co with 11.336 million, JS Bank Ltd with 9.686 million, Fauji Cement with 8.023 million, PTCLA with 6.121 million, Telecard Limited with 4.739 million, Lafarge Pakistan with 3.586 million, Azgard Nine with 3.498 million and WorldCall Telecom with 2.955 million shares.
