Mini dams to boost agriculture in Federal Capital areas

Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada on Sunday reviewed the progress of ongoing agricultural projects in the rural areas of the Federal Capital and directed the officials to expedite the work on these projects for their timely completion. The meeting was informed that the directorate of agriculture has launched many projects for boosting the agriculture in the rural areas under which water courses and mini dams have been constructed for storage of rain water and irrigation for crops.
Modern Agricultural Demonstration plants have been developed at various sites in the rural areas and training courses for the farmers are under way for imparting and introducing modern methods of agriculture techniques to them. It was informed that Fisheries Department has also prepared comprehensive arrangements for fish seeds stoking in the dams and promoting the production of fish in large scale for meeting the protein demands of consumers.

Livestock Department was also holding free veterinary medical camps in the remote rural areas on daily basis and providing free treatment and vaccination of livestock against the seasonal diseases was carried out successfully. Besides this, the services and treatment facilities at the veterinary hospitals in the rural areas were also being upgraded.

The Chief Commissioner directed the officials to provide maximum facilities to the farmers in the rural areas for boosting agriculture and particularly the production of meat and milk be increased to meet the needs of local consumers in a befitting manner. He also reviewed the progress of industries and labour welfare departments of Islamabad and directed the officials to further improve their service delivery systems and ensure the implementation of relevant laws in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada visited the under construction site of shrine of Hazrat Bari Imam Complex at Noor Pur Shahan and reviewed the ongoing progress of work at the site. Director, Development/Finance, Rana Akbar Hayat, Deputy Director, Auqaf, Malik Afsar Khan, Project Director, Ayaz Khan and contractor of the project were also present on the occasion. The Chief Commissioner directed the project director and contractor to expedite the work on the project and ensure its speedy completion without further delay.
