Mobilink to invest $1b to enhance mobile network

Islamabad—Mobilink will be investing over USD 1 billion towards the enhancement of its voice and data services, paving the way towards introducing 3G services as soon as it is licensed in Pakistan. This was shared with the Honorable Raja Pervez Ashraf, Prime Minister of Pakistan by Jo Lunder, Group CEO, VimpelCom, during a meeting at the Prime Minister House.


VimpelCom continues to have a positive outlook on its operations in Pakistan, with Mobilink already having invested over USD 3.9 billion till date as part of its vision to reshape lives through connectivity. The additional investment of USD 1 billion is part of VimpelCom’s aggressive plans to further consolidate its leadership position in Pakistan with the deployment of state-of-the-art next-generation mobile network equipment.


Jo Lunder, Group CEO of Vimpelcom, parent company of Mobilink, highlighted, “The investment on our mobile network is a continuation of Mobilink’s promise made at the start of 2012 to create a paradigm shift in Pakistan’s cellular environment.
