Nepra raises power tariff by Rs5.8 per unit

RAWALPINDI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has increased the electricity tariff by Rs5.8 per unit for domestic and commercial consumers.

 

According to a notification issued on Friday, Nepra has permitted power distribution companies to collect the monthly fuel adjustment charges for eight months — from August 2012 to March 2013.

 

The power distribution companies would recover the fuel adjustment charges of August-November 2012 in June 2013, reported a private TV channel.Fuel adjustment of December 2012, that is Rs1.33, would be collected in July and Rs1.55 per unit fuel adjustment of January 2013 would be received in August and Re0.63 of February would be recovered in September whereas, Rs1.33 per unit fuel adjustment of March would be collected in October this year.

 

It is worth mentioning here that the Islamabad High Court had given a stay order eight months back against the collection of fuel adjustment charges but the stay order expired last month and the power distribution company has become active in collection of fuel adjustment charges.
