Outages mentally deranged nation, says APDPA

Sialkot - All Pakistan Dry Ports Association (APDPA) Chairman Muhammad Ishaq Butt has expressed grave concern over the worsening energy crisis in the country.

Talking to the newsmen here on Sunday, the APDPA chief regretted that the country had been in the grip of severe energy crisis since over past many years but the previous government failed to step up efforts for overcome the crippling crisis.

In fact, the loadshedding duration increased from eight to 16 hours a day bringing all economic, industrial and agricultural progress to a standstill,” he pointed out. He maintained that the local exporters lost invaluable orders on account of not meeting the delivery schedule due to severe outages, depriving the country of much-needed foreign exchange. Ishaq Butt, who Chairman of Sialkot Dry Port Trust, said that the common man had become frustrated and being mentally-affected for not having any role to stop the damage being done to their routine life by the power outages. He claimed that people even failed to perform and maintain their prayers schedule due to the pitch darkness, adding that It seemed that the nation had been pushed into Stone Age.

The APDPA chief asserted that the a lot of hopes were attached to the interim government for the resolution of energy crisis but it had, instead, worsened the situation and the loadshedding duration had increased from 16 to 20 hours on average on daily basis.

He questioned that on the one hand, 187 million people of the country were suffering and had been pushed into the quagmire of worst crises, on the other there seemed no one to address this single issue which had not only paralyzed the economy but also made its citizens mentally deranged. He revealed that the exports were on decline, fuelling unemployment ratio to an extent which would ultimately gave rise to crime and anarchy in society.

“Doesn’t this scenario warrants sue motto action by honourable the Chief Justice of Pakistan who appears the only hope to immediately investigate and address the issue to provide relief to the nation, being pushed into darkness,” he stressed. Ishaq Butt declared that it would be the greatest service by the CJP, especially in the wake of the failure of the successive governments.
