Pak-India roundtable conference

LAHORE: The single-day roundtable conference on various facets of Pak-India trade would be held on January 10, 2013 to prepare a working paper for future policy directions.

The roundtable will be organised jointly by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and Lahore University of Management Studies (LUMS).

The key speakers would include LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar, Deputy Indian High Commissioner Gopal Bagly, Additional Commerce Secretary, Pakistan, Fazl Abbas Mekan, Chief Executive ICRIER Rajat Kathuria, Professor Nisha Taneja, Country Director International Growth Centre, LUMS, Ijaz Nabi and DG Mumbai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Atindra Sen.

The three main areas that will be deliberated upon include importers and exportersí perspectives on trade normalisation between Pakistan and India, non-tariff barriers and prospects for foreign direct investment in the two countries

The roundtable would also cover several other issues including composition of the sensitive list, bilateral free trade agreement, acquisition of raw materials and related goods at lower prices and non-tariff barriers in land transportation.
