ISLAMABAD : Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday disposed of a petition filed by some local residents against acute water shortage in their localities after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) informed the court that the issue had been resolved.

The petition was filed by Professor Raja Aamir and some other residents of sector I-10.

Chaudhry Yasir Mehmood, the counsel for the petitioner, adopted before the court that the CDA was responsible for providing civic facilities, including uninterrupted supply of water, to the residents but it had failed to perform its duty due to bad governance.

The CDA water supply system, especially in the G, H and I sectors, has almost crumbled because of the power outages. He said due to loadshedding tubewells were not working to lift water to overhead tanks for onward supply to the consumers.

In the first week of June, the court had sought reply from the CDA. The counsel for the civic agency, Raja Adnan, on Thursday appeared before the court and said the water shortage issue had been resolved.
