Port Qasim handles 121,951 tons of cargo

Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 121,951 tons during the last 24 hours that included 99,531 tons of imports and 22,420 tons of exports, the Port Qasim Authority reported on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the port handled imports, including containerised cargo (2,682 tons), furnace oil (30,023 tons), palm oil (13,143 tons), diesel (12,000 tons), project cargo (167 tons), iron ore (500 tons), canola seeds (15,160 tons) and containerised cargo (28,538 tons).

It handled exports, including containerised cargo (22,420 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 57 percent at the port on Monday, the authority reported.

It said that it moored eight ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, canola seeds, iron ore, palm oil and furnace oil, respectively.

These ships were CV Nysted Maersk, CV Eddy Stone, MV Peace Gem, MV Out Rivaling-2, MT Theresa Taurus, MT Asphalt Merchant, MT Chemroad Sea and MT Quetta.

Besides, another container ship also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, it added.
