Port Qasim handles 77,534 tons of cargo

Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 77,534 tons during the last 24 hours that included 65,923 tons of imports and 11,611 tons of exports, the Port Qasim Authority reported on Monday.

Accordingly, the port handled imports, including diesel (40,500 tons), project cargo (376 tons), soyabean seeds (2,247 tons), and containerised cargo (22,800 tons). It handled exports, including rice (211 tons) and containerised cargo (11,400 tons).

Berth occupancy was measured at 43 percent at the port on Sunday, the authority reported.It said that it moored three ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, project cargo and diesel. These ships were CV MSC Nilgun, MV Atlantic Carrier and MT Al-Soor-II.

With this, a total of six ships loaded and offloaded containers, project cargo, rice, soyabean seeds and diesel. These eight ships were CV MSC Nilgun, MV Atlantic Carrier, MV Zea Hai-505, MV Alitis, MT Asphalt Merchant and MT Al-Soor-II, it said.

Besides another five ships, carrying palm oil, furnace oil, iron ore, canola seeds and military cargo, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours.These ships were Thresa Taurus, Quetta, Outrivaling-2, Peace Gem, and Eddy Stone, it added.
