Port Qasim handles 90,633 tons of cargo

Shipping activity at Port Qasim

Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 90,633 tons during the last 24 hours that included 79,322 tons of imports and 11,311 tons of exports, the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) reported on Monday.
Accordingly, the port handled imported cargo, including diesel (16,833 tons), chemicals (15,040 tons), rice (14,389 tons), and containerised cargo (33,060 tons). It handled exports, including cement (2,286 tons), and containerised cargo (9,025 tons). The port berthed seven ships in the last 24 hours. They loaded and offloaded containers, cement, rice, wheat and chemicals. Names of the ships were CV MSC Didem, CV Maersk Denver, MV Nordic Tianjin, MV Bella-L, MV Liberty Grace, MV Feng Hai-II and MT Al-Salam-II, the PQA reported.

Berth occupancy was measured at 50 percent at the port on Sunday, it said. Two ships, CV Nysted Maesk and CV Hust Point, scheduled to load and offload containers, are expected to take berths at the Container Terminal on Monday. Container vessel ‘MSC Didem’ sailed out on Monday morning, while two more ships, CV Maersk Denver and MV Feng Hai0II, are expected to sail in the afternoon. The Karachi Port Trust reported that around 10 ships were expected to arrive at the port during the next 24 hours. They are carrying cargo, including ethanol, steel and crude oil.
