Power crisis multiplies public woes: MQM

KARACHI - MQM leader Hyder Abbas Rizvi said that the ongoing crisis of electricity loadshedding had added to public woes of citizens.

He expressed these views while addressing a news conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, Azizabad here on Monday. He said it was need of the hour to draw national policy aimed at resolving power and water crises and said his party is ready to assist the government in this regard.

The MQM leader alleged an artificial power crisis was being created to cover the government’s proposed step of transferring most of the gas reserves of Sindh to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

He said that financial discrepancies between Sui Southern Gas Company and Karachi Electric Supply Company are the issues running for a long time and could easily be resolved through better financial management. Hyder said the current situation is unfavourable to the country’s economy where Karachiites have been made to suffer the artificial crises. He demanded the authorities concerned to take notice of the issue, providing relief to the masses.

Meanwhile, the MQM nominated Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, Javaid Kazmi and Saif Yar Khan as coordinators for the central coordination committee.

This decision was taken during a meeting of the central coordination committee for the reorganisation of the movement.
