Private housing schemes: LDA warns developers, sponsors

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday warned developers and sponsors of all private housing schemes in its controlled area for completing their schemes in accordance with the approved design and relevant rules within the stipulated time of five years otherwise their mortgaged plots would be confiscated and auctioned for generating cost of completing development works.

According to the LDA's spokesperson, the developers had been directed to get approved the designs for construction of infrastructure, including roads, water supply, sewerage, electricity, sui-gas and horticulture from the department concerned within six months of the initial approval of the scheme. They had further been advised to execute development works strictly as per the approved designs and that too with the approval of the department concerned.

The developers were also required to inform the relevant department in writing before initiating certain development work(s) so that affective monitoring of such work(s) could be ensured by the department concerned. The authority warned that in case of failure in execution of development works within five years or substandard development, LDA would auction the mortgaged plots for completing the development works in the schemes and additional cost would be recovered from the developers, if any.
