PSDC project to benefit women

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Stone Development Company (Pasdec) and UNIDO are planning to launch a programme to empower women for business development and entrepreneurship through marble mosaic, craft and inlay training.

 

The programme, “Creative Entrepreneurship for Women (CREW)”, is likely to benefit around 8,960 women directly and indirectly.

 

The project will be funded by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and will be executed jointly by Pasdec and Unido.

 

Pasdec CEO Ihsanullah Khan and Unido’s National Programme Coordinator Dr Shahina Waheed signed the budget forecast and funding calendar on behalf of their organisations in a ceremony held at Pasdec head office.

 

Under the agreement, GIZ will provide 0.95 million euros (around Rs128.6m) to establish two mosaic, craft, inlay (MCI) centres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, transfer of technology and technical know-how, MCI curriculum development, enterprise development training and value addition.
