Railways decides to upgrade four passenger trains

Pakistan Railways will upgrade, four passenger trains including Karakaram, Express, Tazgam, Quetta and Karachi Express by July 29 to make the depressed organisation financially healthy.






The PR has also decided to run two freight trains shortly because it was the biggest source of income in the past. This was decided in a meeting presided over by Federal Minister Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and attended by senior managers of Pakistan Railways at Mayo Garden here on Monday.

The Minister said that restructuring of Pakistan Railways and eradication of corrupt elements were at the top of agenda of the government to make the entity a self-reliant and financially sound means of transportation. Talking to media men the Minister said the government has decided to remove all corrupt officials from key slots because all honest persons were sidelined during the last tenure to accommodate corrupt for ulterior motives.

"We are preparing a five-year plan to revamp railway by repairing rail track and gradation of signals and other trafficking system", he added. He said a competent legal director will be appointed to expeditious disposal of court cases and Director Public Relations to give proper projection to Railways and interact with media.
