ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has advised the Carriage Factory managing director to explore new avenues to generate revenues for Pakistan Railways (PR) instead of demanding money from PR.

The minister also said that the problems of workers would be resolved at priority basis while a policy would be devised soon to regularise the contractual workers.

According to this policy, regularisation will be gradual and the senior most workers will be regularised first. The federal minister said this during his visit to Carriage Factory, Islamabad. He said that he was given a choice by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to choose a ministry and he picked the challenge of revival of PR. He advised the Carriage Factory MD to explore new avenues to generate revenues for PR instead of demanding money from PR.

Rafique advised the MD to build an overhead bridge between factory and colony with scrap of railways. Rafique told the Railway Estate Development and Marketing Company executive director that PR is capable enough to develop its land to increase the revenue for the department. He also directed the Radamco executive director to exploit the railway lands that were closer to the main roads. He expressed his concern of least representation of PR in board of directors of Radamco. Rafique also directed Radamco to bring and submit all original records of lands to PR director’s land office.
