Karachi †Five men, including a security guard, robbed a bank in Ferozabad of Rs1.66 million on Thursday afternoon.

SHO Jehanzeb Khan said they received information of a robbery at the Allied Bank Limited situated on the Allama Iqbal Road. A police mobile was dispatched to the scene and the place was cordoned off.

The bankís staff told the police that they were working when four men dressed in shalwar kameez entered the bank.

Following that, Nazim Ali, a security guard from the Mustang Security Company who was posted outside the bank, asked the other guard posted inside the bank for water and took his rifle from him.

When the other guard left, Ali and the four suspects held the staff hostage and robbed Rs1.66 million from the bank. They also seized the CCTV footage and escaped in a hi-roof van.

SHO Khan said they called in forensic and fingerprint experts for gathering evidence. Moreover, a police team was dispatched to the Mustang Security Company for collecting information on Ali, he added.

He said the security company only had Aliís CNIC, which seemed to be fake, and the address mentioned on the card was of a posh locality in Model Colony.

The security company had no other information on Ali, who was hired by the company only eight days back, he added.
