Saudi govt declares PIA as best airline

Madina—PIA was honoured as the best airline out of 74 international carriers hectically involved in world’s largest aviation operation to carry out over 17 lakh pilgrims from all corners of the world.

According to PIA spokesman, Syed Sultan Hasan in certificate to PIA, the GACA has said that they closely monitored the activities of all the airlines’ operating from Hajj terminal Jeddah and consider that PIA again proved itself the best operator on the basis of regularity as well as services provided.

GACA further said that PIA demonstrated exceptional value by overcoming the delay factor of departures during the initial two days of Post Hajj operation. From the last three years PIA is being declared as most excellent airline by the by GACA.

“This is the third consecutive year starting from 2010 that PIA has been chosen by the Saudi Arabia Civil Aviation as the best Hajj flight operator and hoped that PIA would continue to serve the Hajjis with the same devotion in the future as well”, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the post-Hajj operation of national flag carrier-Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is going in a smooth manner and so far some 34,000 Hujjaj have returned through 80 special Hajj flights during last thirteen days. In addition about 6,000 has been returned through schedule flights.

It may be mentioned here that some 180,000 Pakistanis has performed Hajj this year and out of this over 50 percent, totalled 96,000 Hujjaj would return to Pakistan through 196 PIA’s flights during the current Hajj operation, which commenced on October 30, 2012 and will conclude November 30, 2012. PIA is operating 13 flights daily from Jeddah for returning of Hujjaj. This includes some nine special Hajj flights and two-three scheduled flights and these flights are being operated for Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Queeta and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
