This option was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister House the other day to discuss the deliberations made at the recent meeting of the Council of Common Interests in Islamabad as well as discussing the proposed National Power Policy-2013.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to seriously consider the option of setting up smaller power generation plants near canals so as to boost electricity generation potential of the province and to increase the contribution of the provincial government in overcoming the lingering power crisis in the country. Shah was of the view that Sindh should be given special consideration and role while devising any energy policy at the national level.
