Traders issue to be resolved on priority basis

RAWALPINDI - Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office (RTO) Aftab Ahmed said that the problems being faced by business community regarding income and sales tax would be resolved on priority basis.

“RTO will promote friendly atmosphere for taxpayers and facilitate them in every possible way to generate maximum revenue for the country” he said while talking to a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) who called on him in his office here on Monday. The RCCI delegation comprised President Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, senior vice president Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach, vice president Nadeem Rauf, group leader Najam-ul-Haq Malik, former presidents and executive committee members.

Chief Commissioner RTO Aftab said that display of income tax certificate or national tax number was mandatory for all businessmen at their business centers to avoid any untoward situation.

He said that broadening of tax base was the common demand of the business community and government to generate revenue for the motherland and as well as reduce burden on the existing tax payers. He said that soon software would be provided to business community for better managements of their accounts.

Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Manzar Khurshid Sheikh said that business community was facing immense problems regarding the E-filing of income tax and sales tax returns and demanded of the RTO to immediate resolve the issue for the betterment of said community and country as well. He said that taxpayers are facing tremendous problems as government change Tax Form every year; he demanded that Tax Form must be change after five years and it should be in easy language to avoid any difficulty while filling the form. Manzar Khurshid said that business community support government stance of broadening of tax base to reduce tax ratio on prevailing tax payers.
