Weekly inflation goes down

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on April 11 decreased by 0.35 percent for the lowest income group as compared to the previous week, provisional figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said.

The SPI for the week under review was recorded at 186.79 points against 187.45 points registered in the previous week.

The weekly SPI was computed taking FY08 as the base year and covered 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups.

The SPI for all income groups also decreased by 0.15 percent, from 192.55 points in the previous week to 192.27 points in the week under review.

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 4.19 percent.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs8,001-Rs12,000, Rs12,001-Rs18,000, Rs18,001-Rs35,000 and above Rs35,000 decreased by 0.27 percent, 0.22 percent, 0.16 percent and 0.04 percent, respectively.
