Keeping
ahead the growing importance of training and conveying business
information for successful operations of a firm, KKI arranged a workshop
on “KKI Operations, SBP Rules & Regulations” for its franchises, on 19th
November 2005 at the Corporate Office so as to focus the operations
under which they are working. The need of the workshop was felt to train
the franchisees in every aspect of their business and its dealings as
per rules and regulations of the State Bank of Pakistan.
Mr. Naeem Butt- Head of Operations assigned the responsibility to
arrange this workshop jointly to Mr. Fida Hussain- Head of HR and Mr.
Nabeel Iqbal – Manager Marketing. Mr. Butt briefed them about the aims
and objectives of the workshop and areas which are to be focused in this
training workshop.
Mr. Hussain and Mr. Nabeel along with the coordination of Mr. Jawaid
Somroo, Ms. Rozina Sewani and Ms. Faria Owais, discussed, finalized and
completed all the workshop tasks and arrangements well on time.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nabeel and was divided into two
sessions. The workshop commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by
Mr. Amir Ameen- Head of Finance. After the recitation, a key note
address was made by Mr. Munaf Kalia, after which Mr. Nabeel introduced
all Board of Directors- Mr. Owais Kalia, Mr. Muanf Kalia, Mr. Naeem
Butt, Mr. Javed Khanani and Head of the Departments- Mr. Idress Usman,
Mr Jawaid Somroo, Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Mr. Amir Ameen, Mr. Azeem Idrees,
and Ms. Nadia to all the participants. Later all the franchisees
introduced themselves and with this the introductory session concluded
and the formal session started.
The formal presentations of the workshop began with the introduction of
KKI which was given by Mr. Nabeel Iqbal. In his presentation, Mr. Nabeel
highlighted the back ground of Kalia group, KKI’s history and its
transformation from money changers to an exchange company, ISO
certification, expansion of its entire network, its websites
www.kkionline.com, www.forexpk.com. Moreover, he focused on the
publications and the field of research and development especially the
research reports and newsletters.
After Mr. Nabeel, Mr. Hussain gave his presentation on the Human
Resource Department. In his presentation he threw light on the roles and
duties of HRD, where he mentioned HR’s responsibilities from the process
of recruitment till hiring of the right candidate for the right job,
benefits plans to the implication of these plans, planning to arranging
any training plans and chalking out the rules and regulations to its
implementation. Then Mr. Somroo took over Mr. Hussain and described
about the working of Administration department. He focused on the
disciplinary act which is the sole factor to maintain the decorum of any
organization; he emphasized that check in and out timings of the
employees must be maintained as this encourages them to be punctual,
build a reputation of the organization among others and is effective
from economical / business point of view.
With the ending of the presentation of Mr. Somroo, the presentation
phase of the first session came to an end. At this point, Mr. Nabeel and
Mr. Hussain made the participants to visit the entire corporate office
of KKI so as to make them aware of professional working setup so they
can continue working with same zeal and professionalism at their offices
as well.
Between the first and the second session, there was a prayer and
refreshment break for an hour.
In the second session, the first presentation was given by Treasury
Department which was presented by Mr. Yousuf –Treasury Officer. He
highlighted the problems which are usually faced by the sender and the
beneficiary for the execution of outward remittance transaction. He
advised to take complete details and information of both the parties so
that the transactions can be made securer, safer, quicker and hassles
free. He discussed in detail the precautions to be taken for executing
DD, TT and TC transaction.
Ms. Nadia- Manager Home Remittance described about the software
“Remitton” and its working. Moreover, she described about the systems
procedures, receiving, inputting of data, follow up, updating of records
of home remittance and its modes of payment so that the franchisees can
understand thoroughly the working of the software.
Exchange Plus- software was covered and described by Mr. Yasin- Accounts
Officer. He explained about the benefits of Exchange Plus and how one
can get advantage of its daily and weekly working which is capable of
generating all kinds of reports required by SBP along with comprehensive
MIS reports.
Another presentation was given by Manager Audit department Mr. Azeem. In
his presentation, he introduced his department, its responsibilities,
requirements, functions and the need of Audit for an organization
especially a financial institution these days.
Audit presentation was followed by finance and SBP reporting which was
covered by Mr. Amir Ameen. He threw light on the daily and weekly
working and maintaining of the financial records. His focus was that
operational activities must be under the framework of SBP rules and
regulations and that the reporting should be accurate and well on time.
The last presentation was of Mr. Naveed Butt-R&D Manager, on Money
Laundering. He highlighted the concept of money laundering, ways of its
identification, importance of KYC and the prevention of money
laundering.
Here came the time break for Maghreb prayers and all the participants
left for prayers.
Soon after the prayers, a summing up speech was given by the Head of
Operations- Mr. Naeem Butt. He thanked all franchisees for showing great
interest in attending the workshop and staying with the same zeal and
enthusiasm till the end. He hoped and wished that all franchises will
now be more focused to work in accordance with the rules and regulations
of SBP.
The speech was followed by a Q & A session where the participants asked
different questions related to the workshop as well as the problems they
face in their daily routine work. The detailed answers were given my Mr.
Munaf and Mr. Butt and for few questions they referred to contact Ms.
Nadia, Mr. Amir Ameen and Mr Nabeel for further actions.
Another highlight of the training workshop was Certificate Award
Cermoney which was presided by the Chairman of Kalia Group & KKI- Mr.
Hanif Kalia. Before the certificate distribution, Mr. Hanif Kalia
addressed the participants; Mr. Hanif focused that the work must be
carried out with loyalty, sincerity and most of all under the defined
rules and regulations of SBP and KKI. He discussed the hard work and
commitment put behind making KKI as a front line Exchange Company of
Pakistan and appreciated the roles of its management as well as the
staff of KKI in it. After the speech Mr. Hanif distributed the
certificates and the souvenirs among all the participants.
At the end of the certificate distribution ceremony, Mr. Owais
appreciated Mr. Hussain and Mr. Nabeel, and presented both of them
special presents as a token of appreciation for arranging such a
successful workshop. He was extremely happy and felt proud that such
talented and sincere people are working with them for the prosperity of
KKI and he believes that they are the valuable its assets. At the same
moment, Mr. Nabeel thanked the coordinators for their utmost cooperation
in this workshop. He also thanked the participants for coming over in
the workshop and making it a successful event.
There was a photo session with the Board of Directors, HODs, and all
franchisees at the end of the workshop.
Lastly, there was an arrangement of a dinner at the cafeteria of KKI
corporate office. |
