Ans. No, there is no need to become a member for online checking of prize bonds draw results. Simply select the denomination and enter your e-mail address to perform online draw checking.

Ans. Presently, the Govt. of Pakistan is offering prize bonds having face value:

- Rs. 200

Q.6. Which prize bond is entitled to winning a prize?

Ans. All prize bonds issued at least 60 days prior to the draw date are entitled to winning a prize.

Q.7. How would I know the draw date for any denomination?

Ans. State Bank of Pakistan issues a schedule of draw dates for each year which is available at http//prizebonds.kalpoint.com . The pocket-size draw schedule is also available at all branches of Kalia & Sons Free Of Cost.

Also, all draw announcements are notified at the home page of www.kalpoint.com and www.prizebonds.kalpoint.com.

Q.8. From where can I purchase and sell prize bonds?

Ans. You can trade these instruments at any branch of prize bonds dealers, commercial bank or State Bank of Pakistan at even rates before shut period, and only from prize bonds dealers at open market rates during the shut period.

Q.9. What does the term shut period mean?

Ans. 60 days prior to a draw, the State Bank stops selling the prize bonds of that particular denomination. This period of 60 days is called the shut period. Usually prize bonds are traded at open market rates during this time.

Q.10. Do I need to enter the series (Alphabetical characters) for checking draw results?

Ans. No, the respective policy has been revised for all draws to be held from Nov. 15, 2000 onwards. Now there is no need to enter alphabetical characters present along with the numerical ones to check draw results.

Q.11. What about those draws that took place before Nov 15, 2000?

Ans. For all draws which held before Nov 15, 2000, it was compulsory to match the series number with the winning number and check the validity of the prize bond in order to win the prize.

Q.12. Do I have to match the series of my prize bonds now with the wining numbers?

Ans. No, you need to match numbers only.

Q.13. How can I claim for my prize amount?

Ans. To claim for your prize, you need to fill in the claim form and submit it along with a copy of your NIC to the State Bank of Pakistan. The claim form is also available at our website for downloading.

Q.14. After submitting my claim, how long will it take to actually receive the prize?

Ans. After eight days of every draw, SBP starts receiving the claim applications. Usually, the prize is paid immediately if winning amount ranges from Rs.1000 to Rs. 20,000. However, if the winning amount is more than Rs.20, 000, it takes almost a month to receive the prize. You can also encash your winning bonds immediately after the draw through a prize bond dealer by paying some service charges or (extra) money if the prize amount is big.

Q.15. How much tax would be deducted if I win a prize?

Ans. Since July 1999, 10% deduction of withholding tax has been announced for all prize bonds draw prizes.

Q.16. Can I download the National Saving's Official Draw results list (SBP List) from KalPoint.com?

Q.17. What is meant by Open Market Rate for prize bonds?

Ans. State Bank and commercial banks stop selling and purchasing prize bonds after one month of draw of a particular prize bond denomination. However, transactions continue in open market with premium. This premium increases as the date of draw comes closer. This is called open market rate. These rates are updated regularly at http//prizebonds.kalpoint.com.

Q.18. What is the valid time period for claiming a prize?

Ans. Maximum time period to avail the prize is six years from the date of draw.

Ans. Yes, every time you check your win, the prize bond number is matched against last 6 years’ data. Although, you need to select 'All Draws' in the combo to perform this search.

Q.24. What is the validity period of a prize bond?

Ans. A prize bond remains valid for a period of Six years.

Q.25. If the system indicates that a bond number has won twice in 2 different draws, will it get a single winning amount or would it be double?

Ans. If the system shows win on a same bond number in 2 separate draws, the holder of the bond is eligible for 2 wins. However, 2 separate claim forms need to be submitted to get prize amount.
